Cheeky and innovative, two words that can be used for BrewDog’s limited edition packaging for their (insanely high) 50% proof beer, End of History. 12 bespoke bottles have been produced. According to your preference you could opt for one of seven dead stoats, four grey squirrels or, for those wanting something a little less common, there’s the single hare. All have now sold, even with a rather hefty £700 a bottle price tag.
Funny.

Living in Sweden this is maybe not something I need, but a great idea for all of you out there that desire some Swedish niceness but can’t get your hands on it.

The PUMA S-INDEX challenges the company to uphold some serious environmental requirements. “The introduction of the S-Index for all products and packaging is a standard that serves as a production benchmark and communicates the products’ sustainable features to consumers. Consumers are becoming increasingly discerning in their purchasing choices and the PUMA S-Index will provide a seal of assurance. PUMA’s objective for the next phase of its long-term sustainability program is that 50% of its international product collections in footwear, apparel and accessories and 100% of its packaging are S-INDEX approved by 2015.”
Nice.

I just had the pleasure of coming across this beautifully designed Copenhagen board game, created exquisitely by Danish/New York agency Hello Monday.
Drawing inspiration from ‘classic’ such as Monopoly, the game reflects the city’s ontology, and delivers a message of sustainability.
Good stuff.

A very nice awareness campaign against landmines, which simply uses the basic tomato ketchup wrapper to great effect. Good stuff from Publicis Mojo Australia.

The always excellent Farrow have managed to better a piece of music packaging that is considered a classic, by pretty muck reversing the colours, from white to black. Beautiful stuff. The original is here. The packaging has been created to celebrate the re-release of Spiritualized‘s 12 year old album ‘Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space’.

Another fine example of the great work put out by build, and a refreshingly (obvious) format to boot. Available to buy here.

A nice concept by James Reynolds, which follows on nicely from my previous post, packaging and receipts that tell the foods journey and carbon footprint as it is. Would be nice if one of the big supermarkets had the balls to really do something like this, it would surely get people thinking about eating local grown food.

An interesting article about how the future of cigarette advertising and branding ‘could’ go, after Obama signs new legislation later this week. Included in the legislation is the requirement of all ads and displays to not use full colour, but instead replace colour with black and white text only.
To make a point, Pentagram of designed 4 Marlboro packs with an eye to the not too distant future.

You may have seen these before, as they are certainly doing the rounds, in no part because they are simply and beautifully designed. Created by the excellent Swedish agency BVD, they are quite surprisingly nearly 9 years old. To see more great work, take a look here.

I think since returning from Rome, where my taste buds were spoiled by the varied and fantastic selection of sausages and cured, my taste radar has been particularly astute.
The above selection by Swedish manufacturer Koberg Vilt, certainly has me wanting to try them. Beautifully packaged also by Stockholm agency Silver.
“Koberg Vilt is traditional Swedish food with a twist. Wild boar salami with chili and deer sausages with Bourgogne wine are just two of the many products made from game living on the Koberg estates. The vivid hunting colors and classic oak leaf patterns make the Koberg product line eye-catching.”

Really nice, clean and elegant packaging for Australian naturopathic skincare range, Jacqueline Evans. Created by Swear Words. I am in total agreeance with with Mr Carusone over at AisleOne who kindly dropped it into my inbox, that the use of pastel colours is particularly nice, and not something you see very often.
