Liking this new (old) outdoor campaign illustrated by Paul Slater and hand lettered by Alison Carmichael, who were commissioned by ad agency CHI. Harking back to an art from the past, they reinforce the message Anchor has been producing butter since 1886.
Well I am back from a much needed and enjoyed summer break in the Philippines. The blog has been quiet, but I have plenty of nice things stacked up ready to post time permitting. First up and a very nice place to start the ball rolling again is the above quite beautiful Letterpress project created by Ty Matteson to celebrate / announce the birth of his son Shepard.
As part of the recent Joining Forces exhibition at the Concrete Hermit Gallery, illustrator James Joyce teamed up with CGI specialists The 3D Agency, to create one of his 2D illustration, in yes real life 3D.
I am liking the above set of animal band illustrations, created by Sydney based illustrator Okayboss. The series so far includes Animal Collective, The Dodos, Grizzly Bear, Wolf Parade, Modest Mouse, Deerhunter, The Mountain Goats and Noah and the Whale.
I just had the pleasure of stumbling across the above Dodo and other simply stunning pieces of Character concepts for the recent Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland. Click here to see Michael Kutsche full set.
As Mr Bingo himself says “Ok, so we all know Haiti is pretty fucked at the moment”.
So the talented chap has decided to do his part and help out by printing a limited number of the above illustrative niceness.
Demand was such yesterday they sold out raising a nice £680, so with the help of some nice UK printer types who are now reprinting for free he has done a more are available, all money going to UNICEF’s Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal His sales pitch is worthy of another quote, so here it is…
“Friendly humans of this planet we live on, I urge you to please put your hands into your pockets and purchase one, or two (or ten?) of these beautiful Mr Bingo hand silkscreened signed prints”.
As I type, Mr Bingo twitters that he is now through the £1000 mark. Go on you know you want to… here.
Last week I posted about the extremely talented Johanna Basford’s, 24 hour twit/sketch-a-thon.
Today she has very kindly posted the finished item on flickr, enabling her, with the participants help, to ‘tag’ and document all of us that contributed by giving her something to draw. Click here to see the full thing and see if you can spot my own, ‘scuba S’.
Next up one of a limited 100 screen prints should hopefully be popping through my letter box very soon.
Once again a big thanks to Johanna, if you don’t about her already, get on over to her homepage and check out her black ink delicious-ness.
Live video by UstreamA couple of months back I was lucky enough to get myself one of the limited #twitterpicture, drawn initially, then screen printed by an extremely talented young Scottish girl called Johanna Basford.
Today as can be seen from the live stream above she is in the process of composing #twitterpicture2. She will be taking suggestions from twitter at @johannabasford for 24 hours and sketching here way to another delightful composition which will be screen printed and made available to but to look nice on your wall, soon.
For the record I am hoping to see an S with scuba mask and snorkel in there somewhere.
Loving these retro illustrations by young whipper snapper Matthew Lyons who as well as packing some serious talent is currently in his last year at Loughborough University. You can see more niceness on his blog here, or here on his flickr page.
