Jeepney’s – Manila

Whilst on my way to an idyllic tiny, restful island in the Philippines this summer I had a day or so stop over in the metropolis that is Manila, and found myself mesmorised by the numbers and diversity of the famous Jeepney. The streets are literally awash with thousands of individualised, unique, Jeepney’s proudly driven by their hard-working owners. Above are just a few I managed to capture.

You may notice nestled amongst all the old skool, petrol driven beasts, there is one new environmentally friendly, electric version, bringing the iconic piece of public transport right up to date.

Since returning, I have wondered at the possibility of starting a project where I could photograph and interviewing each and every Jeepeney and it’s owner, a project that hopefully one day could be more than a passing dream.

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year

The goose has got fat so it is time for me to head home to the Motherland to indulge in quality time with my family. So I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks to all that that take the time to follow this blog, and I look forward to sharing more niceness in the new decade.

New Camera Boots Hat Work Ideas Country Home Year

Continuing my current fascination with posters, above is a play with an idea I had over the holidays. 2009 promises to be quite a big year, it has started with relatively small things such as my new camera and a superb new Folk hat, but by the end my work situation should be heading in the direction I want, as well as the strong possibilty of moving to Sweden in the summer. So a new year and lots of new things large and small. The font is one which I mentioned earlier at Just My Type.

I have a few more ideas based on the theme, so expect to see more soon.

2009 Calendar

Having spent the first two days of my working 2009 being tormented the much hated Powerpoint, I have much more happily just sent the above calendar poster to print.

It marks the start of an aggressive, new business campaign for the agency I am now working 3 days a week at. I have designed a range of posters based around the concept of bookmark us, which links the predominantly online nature of the business with the thanks to me, growing print side. More posters, a slightly refreshed identity and a new home page will follow…

QR Revisited

After reading about the QR codes, I have been playing with ideas for a self promotional poster. If you have the means to do it, scan the image above and see where it takes you…

For those with an iPhone you can get a free app called UpCode. Just tried it with the code above and, tahdah, worked. Sweet

After playing a while with UpCode and one other app, both seemed to crash, so I downloaded a 3rd and final scanner called barcode, which works best it appears.

Christmas 08 Posters

I was sat playing around with an illustration I have created for this years Christmas Card, and whilst playing with colour variations, I decided that the illustration could work quite nicely as a poster. So here they are 3 variations on a theme.
